Because gum disease is typically painless in its early stages, many people don’t realize they have it until there’s serious gum or bone loss. Without treatment, it can eventually lead to tooth loss.
Today’s conservative treatment options include advanced laser therapy. This gentle technique disinfects and removes diseased tissue around the tooth and inside the gum pocket. By eliminating the bacteria responsible for tissue and bone destruction, laser therapy allows the gums to begin healing—sometimes even reattaching to the tooth for healthier, shallower pockets.
While surgical treatment may still be needed for advanced cases, laser therapy offers a more comfortable, less invasive option with quicker recovery for mild to moderate gum disease.
